This position is for a thin films sustaining process engineer specifically focused on Cathodic Arc and DC Magnetron Sputtered films applied in a fast paced “job shop” environment.

  • Expected to quickly become the technical expert on the process and equipment in the plant.
  • Routine monitoring of equipment and process performance, defect analysis and defect reduction.
  • Identify, respond to, and characterize equipment/process and quality/defect issues.
  • Implement root cause solutions to those issues, and continuously improving you equipment/process safety, quality and cost performance.
  • Dispositions non-conforming material and drives appropriate CAPA actions with the quality department.
    Partner with R&D to evaluate new process readiness for transfer into production.
  • Interface directly with Customer’s engineering team as needed to define and improve coat work instructions, designs and tooling for new and existing products.

Required:

  • BS in Electrical, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science or related engineering field.
  • Recent college grad w/ some experience as a process engineer and thin films exposure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A demonstrated ability to learn new processes and tools quickly and make technical contributions.
  • Make technical decisions, provide technical direction, have strong team building capability and have excellent communication skills.
  • Thin Film equipment or process experience (Leybold or Sulzer) is a plus.

Products are used for applications as diverse as architectural signage to aerospace applicationsnt.

We were founded as a research and development company and today the company has 3 locations and conducts business around the world.
Manufacturing facility is comprised of three continuous production lines, one batch operation and several fabrication and assembly cells.

Product Technology and R&D Manager to participate through a hands-on approach with  Engineering, Operations Management, and Quality/ Process. The ideal candidate will posses the urgency to address urgent Company technical needs and review company requirements through value-added projects, This individual will manage the on-going technical efforts while supporting existing operating and product technologies

This is a very hands on and functional role. 
Qualifications

Qualified Candidates Will Have 

  • At least 5 years of significant technical experience in continuous manufacturing with a preference toward coil coating, anodizing, silver halide based research, conventional/non-conventional imaging technology, or process control and a strong familiarity with organic synthesis or formulations.
  • An advanced degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required, preferably with a major in organic and/or photo-polymer chemistry.
  • Clearly demonstrated ability to work hands-on in a small company environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have demonstrated ability to solve problems / create effective solutions with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • A preference will be given to applicants with backgrounds involving inorganic photochemical, electro-chemical and organic photo-chemical technologies in manufacturing coating environments.

  • Propose process improvements to reduce variation and improve throughput. Employ a toolbox of skills and techniques such as Kaizen, 5S, Flow, and Lean Manufacturing to drive improvement.
  • Lead problem solving teams to implement solutions. Use visual management systems and lean tools (A3, 5S, etc.) to drive continuous improvement and empower team members to manage their own output & quality.
  • Monitor/Audit manufacturing processes/inputs for any variable that may impact quality or throughput (new input materials and new/changed processes) to assure that quality & throughput are maintained.
  • Propose quality requirements for manufacturing processes and finished product outputs where requirements are lacking (incl. standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation).
  • Assist with quality planning for any new product launches.

Position Requirements:

  • 4 year Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in one of the following engineering disciplines -Manufacturing, Mechanical, Plant, Electrical or Chemical or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years actual process engineering experience or quality responsibilities that include process improvement piece. Management of larger system process control a plus. Working knowledge of ISO 9000, quality tools, and lean manufacturing. Preference given to Lean Green or Blackbelt.
