Reporting to the Plant Accounting Manager this position is responsible for inventory accounting, assistance with monthly closing duties and other accounting related functions.


  • Prepare and maintain monthly analysis to inventory accounts involving material usage, scrap, work order analysis for large variances and impact of cup weight and count variability.
  • Assist in month end closing by performing general accounting functions, including but not limited to, reconciliation of stock status to general ledger, reconciliation of work-in-process, and issues of spare parts from inventory.
  • Reconcile monthly R&D account with time reporting and book entry.
  • Produce weekly efficiency and volume schedules for manager’s review.
  • Coordinate and audit the cycle count program for finished goods and raw materials; this includes quality hold counts and participation in quarterly physical inventories (as needed).
  • Assistance with product costing, including updates of raw material for approval, preparing cost sheets for new products and creating quarterly price adjustments for raw materials for approval by senior management.
  • Participate in two annual spare parts inventories and book any usage variance.
  • Backup functions can include, but are not limited to, cost of production preparation and payroll entry.
  • Work on special projects as needed.
  • Responsible for reporting food packaging safety problems to plant management.
  • In the incumbent’s absence these responsibilities will be transferred to the Plant Accounting Manager.


  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems including but not limited to ERP Systems.
  • Must be competent to carry out food packaging safety and quality responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • At least 3-5 years of financial accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.


  • BS in Accounting.
  • MBA/CPA is a plus.


  • Working conditions are primarily in an office environment in a manufacturing facility with 10% requirement to be on production floor.


  • Visual attention and mental concentration is the primarily physical demand of this position.
  • Other physical demands include standing, walking, sitting and utilization of a mouse, keyboard and telephone.
  • Light load lifting of up to 15 lbs.
