Summary: This position will provide full responsibility and leadership for assigned spend categories, working closely with multiple business units, developing strategies and coordinating on a global basis all related supply chain activities to assure that total cost of ownership and value-added requirements are met. This position will assure business unit program participation, adherence to and acceptance of agreed upon strategic sourcing initiatives associated with assigned spend categories.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Establishes sourcing strategies for assigned spend, collaborates to insure incorporation and business unit participation
- Works with category buyer to ensure supplier quality, on time delivery, and working capital levels are optimized
- Participate and coordinate sourcing activities in design changes (ECN) and New Product Development (NPD)
- Work with Engineering and testing to prioritize sourcing activities
- Oversees all activities related to the management of assigned spend, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity/service
- Recruit, maintain and manage world-class suppliers with focus on total cost of ownership improvements while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct
- Proactively and routinely drives spend analysis activities identifying strategic sourcing opportunities within assigned commodities and throughout the supply chain environment where applicable
- Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, terms/conditions, and acceptability of items to specifications
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future (industry trends in pricing and availability that will impact the business)
- Responsible for timely reporting to agreed upon KPI’s and presenting Strategic Sourcing plans, activities and countermeasures
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- BA or BS degree, preferably in a technical competency, minimum in a business/industrial related field
- Experience:
- 5 – 7 years sourcing/procurement related experience
- Category and market expert, high level of technically competency
Specific skills, knowledge, and/or licenses:
- C.P.M. or C.P.I.M certification a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Microsoft Project
- Demonstrated understanding of lean principles and demand flow techniques
- Analytical – ability to analyze strategic options and their direct potential and indirect impact on the organization
- Project management & problem solving skills
- Demonstrated supplier management skills
- Must be able to work and effectively communicate with all levels of the company and suppliers
